Incumbents who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $55,354 annually. Incumbents with a Class I Stationary Engineer's License issued by the City of St. Louis will start at $60,866 annually.
This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1500.00). The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant. The hiring incentive is not available to current City employees.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position operate, maintain and repair stationary engines and mechanical equipment to provide utilities or power for buildings and industrial processes. Work involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments; therefore, candidates must be available for shift work. A shift differential is paid to full-time employees working evening and night shifts.

Licenses: Applicants must possess and maintain all of the following while employed by the City of St. Louis: a current Stationary Engineer’s License (Class II Restricted) issued by the City of St. Louis and a valid Missouri driver's license. Copies of licenses must be submitted with the Employment Application. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in the operation of high pressure boilers, chillers in excess of 500 tons, building automation systems, emergency generators or related equipment.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.

The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly. A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
