Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position operate a wide variety of equipment on construction projects for city streets, parks and utilities.

Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment such as crawler loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, cable cranes, and related equipment. Completion of a recognized Construction Equipment Operator apprenticeship program may substitute for one year of required experience. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
License: Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid Missouri CDL (Class A or B) while employed by the City of St. Louis. Candidates that have a CDL permit at the time of hire must obtain a valid CDL (Class A or B) as a condition of successfully completing their working test period. Some positions may require incumbents with a CDL (Class B) to obtain a valid Class A CDL with X (Hazmat and Tanker) endorsement within six months of appointment. MEDICAL The pre-employment medical exam will include a drug/alcohol screen and subsequent random drug/alcohol testing in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
