Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for planning, organizing, assigning, and supervising environmental health sanitation programs and staff and participating in after-hours disaster response teams to control environmental problems.

A Bachelor’s degree which includes at least 30 hours of basic science coursework and a math or statistics class; plus three years of experience working in environmental health. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Certification: Must be able to obtain Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian Certification from the National Environmental Health Association within 11 months of hire as a condition of successfully completing working test period. Incumbents must also successfully complete training in Hotel, Motel and Childcare License Inspections, Certified Pool Operator Inspections and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) during working test period.
An official transcript documenting qualifying educational achievement and coursework must be submitted upon request.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in Environmental Health from a program accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council. CEHT certification by NEHA. Previous supervisory experience.
