HOURLY SALARY:  $16.18

Positions are paid on an hourly basis, are not eligible for the Employee Benefits Program and do not require City residency.

Position Specifications

Incumbents in this position supervise and instruct youth in the sport of boxing.  Responsibilities include: teaching conditioning exercises; instructing children and adults in the proper methods of boxing; instructing and enforcing rules of the game; timely record keeping and setting up and taking down the boxing ring.

Minimum Qualifications

Some experience participating in a recognized instructional boxing program. OR some experience as a boxing trainer, coach, instructor, or official. Must have written documentation of qualifying volunteer work experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  Current certification in first aid and CPR; Boxing Coach certificate; prior experience officiating boxing matches.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificates of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application upon request.  The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion accept alternate documentation.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
