Applicants who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $53,872 annually. Applicants who have successfully completed a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and obtained journeyman status will start at $58,916 annually. Proof of successful completion of a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and journeyman status must be submitted at the time of filing the Employment Application or upon request.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position perform electrician duties and supervise electrician work crews engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems. Some positions may require shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability section of the Employment Application.

Four years of experience performing journeyman electrical work. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Some positions may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License by the completion of the working test period.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly. A ten-year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
