Nature of Work

The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Department of Health’s Communicable Disease and Women, Children, and Adolescent Health and School Health Services.  Responsibilities include:  directly managing the team responsible for fiscal matters, personnel, quality assurance, and reporting requirements; supervising and assures the implementation and evaluation of strategic plans, departmental operations, programs such as Communicable Disease: tuberculosis testing and clinical operations, surveillance, counseling and testing, grants administration, and medical records; Women, Children's and Adolescent Health and School Health Services; assists with the development and monitoring of marketing plans and strategies to represent the Department's programs and services; assures compliance with all City, State, and Federal programmatic and fiscal requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Care Administration or a related field; plus five years of professional public health experience that includes at least one year of communicable disease or family or school health services experience.  OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application. Please note the type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. 

Documentation of academic credentials and driver’s license must be submitted upon request.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master's degree in a closely related field and supervisory/managerial experience that includes program planning/development and building community partnerships.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
