Position Specifications
The incumbent in this position reports to the Airport Deputy Director of Planning and Development. The primary functions of this position are to plan and implement long-term strategies for St. Louis Lambert International Airport, which include noise abatement, land use, development, and environmental matters. This person will adopt, implement, and maintain the Airport Master Plan, including airfield layout, navigational aids, and infrastructure, in compliance with FAA requirements; establish and monitor the airport planning database for land use and development plans, conduct planning and operational analyses, and propose recommended strategies. Job duties include developing and/or directing planning studies; assisting in preparing property sales and leases, including appraisal acquisitions to ensure the best use of airport properties; preparing consultant scope of work and consultant selection, as well as managing contracts for professional services; may assist with budget formulation for department goals, material, and equipment requests for completing projects.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a directly related field; plus five years of experience in aviation planning or project management. Qualifying experience must include at least three years of progressively responsible experience planning and/or managing in an aviation environment. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly. A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
