Incumbents in this position perform clerical support duties for the Telephone Reporting Division of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Examples of work include processing, maintaining, and filing police records and reports; data entry, providing customer service that requires performing R.E.J.I.S (Regional Justice Information System) and M.U.L.E.S. (Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) searches. This position requires regular punctual attendance in a 24-hour facility that work 3 different watches (7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm and 11pm to 7 am).

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate.
Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments and some mandatory overtime assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
Certification: As part of the character investigation, applicants must meet the minimum screening requirements for certification to access the REJIS and MULES Criminal Justice Information Systems within 60 days of appointment. Incumbents must maintain said certifications while employed by the City of St. Louis.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Recent clerical/secretarial work experience in public safety/law enforcement environment OR graduation from an accredited two-year secretarial college/office assistant program.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
Some positions may require candidates to pass a “Character Investigation” prior to appointment. As part of the “Character Investigation”, candidates must meet the minimum screening requirements for certification to access the Regional Justice Information System (REJIS) and must maintain said certification while employed by the City of St. Louis.
