  EIU officers have been made aware of the ongoing trash situation. I have not been made aware of the progress of their investigation. The Health inspector and I have been in communication with management and the maintenance crew. It is typical of a private trash company to require the account number of a client before taking action, as any additional service would be charged to the client and not the person complaining. Unfortunately, you will not see conditions improve in the area until those in care and control of the building get control of this ongoing issue. The city can communicate, cite, fine and send violators to court. If the courts find the violations egregious and Hazardous enough, they can condemn all or parts of the building. Nothing as yet has gotten to the point of condemnation.

Resolution: Citizen's responsibility to clean up trash

Details: The Refuse Division is only responsible for cleaning trash that we cause to spill. Loose trash is the citizen's responsibility to clean up.
