The Water Division Congratulates Laboratory Director Jim Kopp, 2023 Recipient of the Operator’s Meritorious Service Award

Jim Kopp has dedicated his career to promoting and providing safe drinking water for the City of St. Louis. Jim was hired in 1986 as a Chemist and rose through the ranks to become the Laboratory Director. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and chemistry from William Jewell College. Some of his achievements include:

• Maintained state certifications for chemical and microbiological labs at both water treatment plants.
• Trained many chemists on analytical procedures and treatment operation including dosing.
• Contributed to compliance approaches for all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Creating road map for compliance monitoring and reporting.
