Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for providing bailiff and security duties at the city courts and municipal buildings in the City of St. Louis and have the authority to act as licensed security officers. Work involves shift, weekend, holiday and mandatory overtime assignments. A shift differential is paid for evening and night work.

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of law enforcement, security, or corrections experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Deputy Marshals are required to carry a firearm and must qualify to carry while employed by the City of St. Louis. Candidates must satisfactorily complete all Police Division training courses and qualify to carry a firearm by completion of the working test period.
Age: Due to Federal and State regulations, applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filing application.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing the application and be able to present it at the Written Test. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a Drug Screen Test, Physical Examination and successfully complete a Psychological Examination as part of the Medical examination procedure. Incumbents are subject to random Drug Screen and Alcohol Tests without advance notice as a condition of their employment.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
