BI-WEEKLY PAY RATE: $1,918.00 

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position operate, maintain and repair stationary engines and mechanical equipment to provide utilities or power for buildings and industrial processes under the training of a Class I licensed Stationary Engineer.  Work involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments; therefore, candidates must be available for shift work.  A shift differential is paid to full-time employees working evening and night shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree in Building Maintenance, Building Systems Engineering Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on mechanical and electrical systems.  OR one year of experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility.  OR two years of experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of industrial equipment.  OR an equivalent combination of  education, training and experience.

Licenses: Applicants must possess and maintain a Stationary Engineer’s License (Class II Restricted) issued by the City of St. Louis by completion of the working test period. Applicants must also possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants without a Missouri driver's license will be required to submit a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Documentation of academic credentials (if applicable) must be submitted with the Employment Application.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and steam generators, chillers in excess of 500 tons, building automation systems, emergency generators or related equipment.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.

A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
