This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1500.00). The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position maintain and repair airport runways, ramps, taxiways and grounds.

Two years of experience in construction or outdoor maintenance work with some experience operating automotive, snow removal, or construction equipment.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with Passenger Bus and Tank Vehicle endorsements while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Written Test. Candidates that do not have a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles. Candidates that do not have a Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with Passenger Bus and Tank Vehicle endorsements at the time of hire must obtain them as a condition of successfully completing their working test period. Please note type of license, number, class, expiration date and State where issued on application.
Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments, mandatory overtime and 24-hour snow call. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Written Test based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. MEDICAL: The pre-employment medical exam will include a drug screen and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Written Test. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.
A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations with positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
