Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for assisting journeyman trade workers in the performance of their duties.

Two years of experience assisting journeyman electricians, machinists, plumbers, carpenters or related skilled trade workers; OR successful completion of a recognized two-year trades program which includes electrical, machinist, plumbing, carpentry or a related skilled trade from an accredited trade school or junior college (training program must be beyond the high school level); OR two years of experience in highway construction, new building construction, water or sewer line construction; OR two years of experience and current permanent status as a Utility Worker with the City of St. Louis; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Proof of educational achievement/training must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the Written Test.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Written Test. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Some positions will require incumbents to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class B) by completion of the working test period.
Please fully describe your qualifying education, training and experience on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Written Test. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
