• Minimum: $49,322.00
• Maximum: $71,656.00

Incumbents who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $49,322 annually. Journeymen who have completed an apprenticeship program registered by the Department of Labor or equivalent will start at $55,666 annually. Proof of completion of a registered Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program and Journeyman status must be submitted at time of filing the Employment Application or upon request of the Department of Personnel.

Position Specifications

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising crews engaged in construction, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, buildings and building systems. Duties also include performance of such functions as needed. Candidates must be available for shift, holiday, weekend and overtime assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Worker. OR two years of experience as a Stationary Engineer.

OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present license upon request. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in interpreting and working from blueprints and mechanical specifications. Some supervisory experience.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request.  The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points. 

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly.  A ten year character investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions with the Airport Authority.
