Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for removing lead-based paint from buildings and homes and performing repair work. Employees will be required to submit to testing of toxic blood levels on a monthly basis and must follow all revised City Lead Detoxification Program procedures and safety protocols.

One year of experience working in lead abatement, asbestos abatement, housing repair or inspection, or environmental remediation work. OR, successful completion of an Environmental Remediation Technician program. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses: Must possess a valid Missouri Lead Abatement Worker License while employed by the City of St. Louis. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri Lead Abatement Worker License at the time of filing application must obtain said license by completion of the working test period. Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Certifications: Must become EAP and RRP certified by completion of the working test period.
Proof of successful completion of an Environmental Remediation Technician program (if applicable) must be provided upon request.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of painting, drywall installation and door and window removal/installation techniques. Experience scraping and removing lead based paints from homes. Experience using saws, hammers, electric drills, scrapers and HEPA vacuums.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
