Nature of Work
This is advanced level work performing duties related to all areas of photography essential to law enforcement and investigations. Duties include: photographing and processing photographs of department employees, victims, suspects, and evidence; logging photographic evidence using Justice TRAX tracking systems; scanning and correcting/repairing negatives and prints using a variety of imaging scanners. Applicants must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds of photographic supplies. Applicants must have clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to adjust the eye to bring objects into sharp focus, and differentiate between colors. Applicant will be required to work on-call shifts occasionally.

Graduation from high school or possession of a General Education Diploma (G.E.D.) plus additional specialized training in photography with intermediate knowledge of computers; and, four years of experience in photography with experience working in a totally computerized photo lab; OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted upon request.
Must be knowledgeable of different camera formats, film types, photographic lighting, flash photography, and night photography. Have a good understanding of digital photography and how it relates to evidentiary imaging. A working knowledge of imaging software such as Adobe Photoshop. Experience administering Linear Systems Digital Imaging Management System (DIMS).
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present license upon request. Completion of courses in Law Enforcement Photography would be desirable.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
