Position Specifications

This position involves a variety of airport security-related duties for the St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) Security Operations Division. This office is responsible for ensuring that STL is compliant with all Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements.  Incumbents in this position are responsible for: reviewing tenant construction applications; inspecting construction sites; conducting airport inspections with emphasis on existing physical security measures; documenting potential security compromises and writing violation notices; creating and maintaining access privileges in the automated access control system; conducting security badge and key audits; instructing security based training classes; conducting security investigations utilizing closed circuit television (CCTV) system; amending STL’s TSA-approved Airport Security Program; coordinating with Airport management on projects affecting security; coordinating with contract security providers; and serving as back-up for additional departmental duties, such as fingerprinting of badge applicants and generating reports using controlled access system software.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field;

Experience: One year of recent full-time paid experience monitoring security programs. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request.  The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.  

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly. A ten-year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
