Declare Your Personal Property

1. Locate your personal property declaration that was mailed to you in January
2. Locate your E-Filing PIN number and account number on the declaration mailed to you in January.
3. If you lost your declaration and don't have the PIN number call (314) 622-4171 and staff will help locate it.

Online

Declare your personal property using the "Begin Online" button and enter:

1. Your Account Number
2. Your E-Filing PIN.

Your Account Number and E-Filing PIN can be found on the notice you received from the St. Louis City Assessor's office.

The "Begin Online" button becomes visible in January when the declarations are mailed and stops being visible in October, when online applications are no longer accepted.

• When filed by April 1st, there will be no penalty.
• Updated tangible personal property records.
• A 10% assessment penalty will be added to the assessment bill when declaration is submitted after April 1st.

Appeals from assessed valuations on tangible personal property maybe made to the Board of Equalization.

Request for an appeal must be made by the taxpayer, in writing, on or before the second Monday in July.

Paperless Declaration

When you file your personal property declaration online, you will be placed on a list to receive an email inviting you to opt into paperless personal property declaration which will be sent later this year. This will allow you to receive future declaration notices via email instead of via mail. As of now, this is the only way to opt into the paperless declaration process. Additional ways to enroll in the paperless option will be available later this year.

Opt in to paperless declaration if you have received an invite email.

In Person

1. Complete the Tangible Personal Property Tax Return form mailed to you and update as needed, or if a form was not mailed to you or you do not have the mailed form, download the appropriate blank form(s) - individual or business and update as needed.
2. Submit completed forms: 

In Person — City Hall, Room 115, 1200 Market St, St. Louis, MO 63103. Drop off at the counter or dropbox. Receipts available on request.

By Mail — Assessor's Office, City Hall, Room 115, 1200 Market St, St. Louis, MO 63103. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you'd like a receipt.

By Email — assessor-personalproperty@stlouis-mo.gov. Attach your completed form as a PDF. A receipt is included with the email confirmation.

By Fax — 314-622-4695. Fax delivery confirmation is the only confirmation provided until your form is processed.

If you don't have the forms, tell the staff what you want to do and they will help you get what you need to file.
