Suggested Native Plants
These species of native plants are good to plant on City property.
The use of wildflowers and other native plants in managed landscapes is economical, reduces maintenance, and effectively conserves water, soil, and other elements of the natural community. Forestry recommends the following native plants for your property:
Low maintenance:
- Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida)
- Purple Cone Flower (Echinacea purpurea)
- Columbine (Aquilegia canadeansis)
- Little Blue Stem (Schizachyrium scoparium)
Short (best for close to the sidewalk):
- Purple Poppy Mallow (Callirhoe involucrata)
- Orange Stone Crop (Sedum kamtshaticum)
- Crested Iris (Iris cristata)
