Lead Inspection and Hazard Control Division

Information about lead hazards in your home and scheduling a lead inspection.

Many homes built before 1978 contain lead-based paint. When ingested, lead can cause serious health problems including nervous system and kidney damage as well as learning disabilities. Children under six are at greatest risk of ingesting lead dust from deteriorating lead-based paint.

City lead inspectors perform lead inspections to identify lead-based paint hazards.  Inspections are performed on residential City properties free of charge where children under six or a pregnant woman reside.

Request an Inspection

Request a lead inpsection online or call CSB at 622-4800 and speak with a customer service representative (CSR).

When lead hazards are found, owners may apply for financial assistance.  Assistance is awarded based on the following criteria:

  • What is the income of occupants?
  •  Do children under six live at the residence?
  •  Is the property occupied by the owner?
