Fines and Abatement

What happens when a property does not follow the rules for vegetation or debris.

Individual Violations

After an inspection, if an occupied property is found out of compliance, the Forestry Division will send out a violation notice to the property owner, giving them 10 days to abate the issue, or the city will abate the property and issue an abatement fee and a fine of $100.

Chronic Violations

If a property is labeled a chronic violator, then it may be issued a $100 fine per day it is out of compliance.

Fees and Fines

Depending on the equipment used including: front loaders, bobcats, tractors with boxes, mowers and handcrews, there will be different abatement fees per hour.

There is a $500 fee for debris abatement.
